A. J. Sullivan Comedian/Albanian poet RIP |
We are sad to say that A.J. Sullivan has temporarily retired from comedy. He is now pursuing the new American dream: a paycheck, health insurance, food on the table.....
It may be that comedy historians will ignore A.J. as quickly as his friends and audiences have. However, those who remember his quirky and stiff style will think back and remember his most lovable and redeeming characteristics: he was always available on short notice and you could count on him to pay his share of gas for out-of-town gigs.
"I'll miss the Red Roof Inns; the cheap and demeaning club owners; heartburn-inducing deep-fried cheese cooked in old oil scarfed between sets; the psycho waitresses at clubs. But most of all I'll miss the audiences -- the catatonic stare of drunken hillbillies clamoring for a little comedy to distract them from their pathetic trailer-park lives," says A.J. wiping a tear away. "These are my people."
In his all-to-brief and non-meteoric career, A.J. made audiences vaguely uncomfortable at the following venues:

casinos:
